Uganda MTN Uganda in partnership with the Uganda Small Scale Industries Association, Maendeleo Foundation, Centenary Technical Services, Centenary Foundation and Tunaweza Foundation has today donated sewing machines, overlock machines, sewing threads, button attachments and sewing materials, computers, printers and training to Teso Textile Light Dynamics, a tailoring enterprise in Soroti City, in the ongoing 21 Days of Y’ello Care Campaign. The recently Chartered Lions Club of Soroti City together with the Church of Uganda – Agule Parish in Bugondo Sub County Kasilo County in Serere district have partnered to plant 1,000 trees in all five sub-parishes in Agule Parish. The tree planting initiative is aimed at bringing climate awareness and combating global warming. Residents of Soroti today blocked Police from arresting Soroti City Woman MP Joan Alobo Acom who had stage a demonstration against the belated Soroti City Women’s day. In an effort to support the government efforts of skilling the youth in creating employment opportunities especially in the informal sector, the Rotary Club of Soroti Central together with Soroti Youth Development Initiative (SOYODI) have joined hands to start training the youth in the Sub Counties of Asuret, Arapai and Aukot on life skills. Soroti city authorities have scheduled Friday May 26, 2023 as a day they will host their belated women’s day celebrations. According to information received by our reporter, the event shall be held at Soroti sports ground and the Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has been lined up as chief guest. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on March 19, 2023 joined residents of Katakwi District to mourn the death of Etukoit Constantino a renowned educationist in Teso sub region. Etukoit (97) passed away last Friday at his home in Katakwi town council. He has been battling with Diabetes, mild blood pressure and other related illnesses since 2011. Vice President Jessica Alupo who is also Katakwi district woman MP attended the burial and represented the President during the final send-off of Etukoit. Beneficiaries of Parish Development Program in Kalaki district have started receiving PDM cash. Kalaki district becomes the second district to launch the disbursement of funds to its beneficiaries. First was Kumi to distribute early this year. The District has so far received One billion nine hundred thirty nine thousand shillings aimed at transforming the local populace. The Kalaki District community development officer Beatrice Ayeto, said the beneficiaries were selected from more than 34 parishes across the district and the money was deposited on individual benefiting phones.
