The Ngora district woman Member of Parliament has finalized a disbarment of 155 million shillings to different savings groups in Ngora district.
Speaking during the last disbarment to 34 groups in the two sub counties of Agirigiroi and Kapir, at Akisim primary school, Hon Apollo stella Isodo said the money is to act as a village bank for the people of Ngora especially those in the savings group.
Members saving in the groups can access loans at an interest rate of 5%.
Isodo has also clarified that the money is not meant to be divided or eaten amongst members but to be used for socio-economic transformation.
Isodo in September 2022, established one hundred fifty-five (155) village savings groups under the Apolot Stella Isodo Foundation (ASIF) across the Ngora district.
Ngora District has 147 villages and 8 markets.
The groups with a membership of 200 and above also walked home with a goat for the good work done in embracing the project
The groups have not only benefited from the money but have also benefited from cassava stem cuttings, Maize seeds, tree seedlings among others.
She has asked the community to embrace these groups as it’s the simplest way to help people as compared to tackling on an individual basis.
Bonny Ocen the LCIII of Agirigiroi Sub County commended Isodo for bringing social-economic transformation projects to the community of Ngora saying that it’s the first time Ngora has had such projects.
On the other hand Ocen has asked the beneficiaries not to let this money cause division amongst them and to utilize these loans for appropriate use not for marrying another woman.
