The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) through the request from Ngora District Woman MP Stella Apolot Isodo has donated a tractor to Ngora District Mixed Farmers Cooperative (NGODIMIFA) to boost agricultural production through mechanization at village level.
The tractor model is Tafe 5900 DI, is among the new entrants in the Ugandan market that is mainly used for ploughing.
The development is part of MAAIF’s initiative on improving and use of agricultural machinery for agricultural mechanization.
While delivering the tractor to Ngora Farmers MP Isodo hailed the Ministry for the support and pledged to continue partnering with the government and other Development partners on projects aimed at transforming the society.
MP Isodo who’s a member of the Agriculture Commitee of Parliament, noted that mechanization in Agriculture is a serious intervention that the Ministry is adopting to address under-utilization of land for agricultural production.
She commended the ministry for its aggressive approach at ensuring that farmers in Ngora are sufficiently catered for through productive agriculture.
She asked the farmers to make the best use of the tractors to improve household food safety.
The Mukura Town Council Chairperson Opolot David Okello, encouraged the beneficiaries of the tractor to ensure that the machinery delivers its intended purpose.
