The Kitgum District woman Member of Parliament Lilian Aber has told people of Serere never to elect bad leaders but rather maintain good leaders in order to attain development.
Aber made the remarks while officiating the belated women’s day celebrations on Friday in Labor Sub County in Serere district.
According to Aber, Itese need to desist from the attitude of changing leaders because of their selfish desires.
She noted that good leaders must be rewarded by voting them back to enable them keep serving the needy.
She lashed out at political leaders at all levels that are failing to educate their electorates how to get out of poverty.
She also urged the women of Serere to push girls to school while urging them to participate in the various government programs including PDM in order to kick out household poverty.
“There is a serious need to work hard to fight poverty at household levels.”
Aber added that, for families to get out of poverty, there needs to be a universal approach.
Hellen Adoa, the Minister for fisheries also Serere Woman MP in her speech also noted that most women in Serere have abandoned their responsibilities and are engaged in sexual immorality.
In order to end the vice, Minister Adoa donated three motorcycles to women leaders in the three counties of Pingire, Kasilo and Serere.
Minister Adoa hopes that the motorcycles will be used to drum up women to engage in productive activities.
Fred Opolot MP Pingire County on his part highlighted a need by the government to recruit teachers in various government schools.
Other leaders who attended the event included; Serere County MP Emmanuel Omoding, Ngora County MP Juliet Achayo Lodou and Gogonyo MP Derrick Orone who all urged people of Serere to embrace government programs.
