The late Anthony Benard Okanyum was born in January 6, 1985 to the late Mzee George Erimu and Toto Margaret Aujo Erimu.
He was the first born of 9 siblings. His siblings were Hosea Erimu (Lt), Richard Ochom (Lt), Topista Asio, Judith Jacinta Aluka, Lydia Sarah Achero, Emmanuel Okure, Andrew Joel Erimu and John Francis Ebiau.
Anthony studied at Tororo Osukuru Nursery and Primary School for Pre- Primary and P.1 before joining Kumi Township for P.2 and later Ngora Boys Primary School for P.3 – P.7. He then joined Ngora High School for all his secondary school education (S.1 – S.6) after which he went to the Law (LDC) Development Center for a Diploma in Law in 2006 and later Uganda Christian University for a Bachelor’s Degree in Law. He proceeded for Bar Course at LDC in 2016.
Anthony was Head Boy in both Ngora Boys and Ngora High school and Guild President while in Uganda Christian University.
Anthony worked as a senior lands Management officer in Ngora District from 2007 until the time of his death. He was also a practicing advocate with Okanyum and Namusana Co. Advocates. He also worked with GIZ as a legal officer on matters of land conflict.
At the time of his death he was living with Florence Idomet of whom he had one child, Mary Georgina Achom.
Anthony had other children; George Mandela Erimu, Georgina Aujo, Bony Elabu, Winnie Aujo, George Opio Erimu and Georgina Adongo Erimu.
He is most remembered for his outstanding advocacy over Abim and Soroti University land matters.
He was also a lead lawyer for former County legislator David Abala.
