Police in Ngora District have launched investigations into the criminal trespass case, malicious damage and assault by the alleged members of Church of Uganda (COU) against Reformed Anglican Church (RAC) members.
The incident according to sources happened at the morning hours of Sunday in Ajeluk Parish, Mukura Sub County in Ngora District.
The case has been opened under SD REF: 03/12/03/2023 of Ngora Central Police Station.
Among the injured include Rev. Sam Osire a RAC Priest deployed in Ajeluk.
While speaking to our reporter Rev. Osire said that a group of people at around 4:00AM local time approached his house and order him to open.
He narrates that some of the attackere asked him to open the door for him to pray for them a request he rejected.
Osire notes that after he rejected all the requests, the attacked armed with pangas, merchetes and sticks broke into his house, beat him up before cutting his head with a panga.
He added that after performing the act, the team then forced him to enter into awaiting truck where he was delivered to Ngora CPS.
Police in Ngora by press time was holding Dan Power Mike Okiror a popular kickboxer in Teso Sub region while eight others were still at large.
Police also detained the track registration number UAF 872V with inscription in the sides COU Kumi Diocese.
The Ngora Woman MP Stella Apolot Isodo has condemned the actions for the attackers and called for calm amongst Christians.
She also appealed to both COU and RAC to use available conflict resolution mechanisms other than taking the law into their hands.
Christians Kumi COU and RAC have been engulfed in a fight since the breakaway of several Priests, Layreaders and Christians who were loyal to Rev. Okunya Charles Oode.
Rev. Okunya left COU after the house of bishops of COU canceled his appointment as second Kumi Bishop. The house of Bishops then named Rev. Okwi Esakhan Micheal to head the diocese.
