The Ministry of Teso Affairs has donated Uganda shillings 180 million to nine districts of Teso.
Each district is expected to receive 20 million shillings according to the internal memo seen by our reporter.
An official at Teso Affairs Ministry who requested not to be quoted because he is not authorized to speak to the media said that the funds are aimed at environmental protection.
He said that, Teso sub-region is currently grappling with conserving its natural resources and hopes that the funds will go a long way in supporting the district in implementing the activities aimed at achieving a sustainable environment.
He revealed that the Minister for Teso affairs Kenneth Ongalo Obote is disturbed with the current weather pattern in the region and believes this kind of support will help.
The benefiting districts include; Katakwi, Kapelebyong, Amuria, Kalaki, Soroti, Serere, Kumi, Bukedea and Pallisa.
The Kumi district Chief Administrative Officer, Roseline Adongo said that whereas the funds given by the ministry to the district are minimal this will go a long way in helping to address some gaps within the district.
She hailed the Ministry of Teso affairs for the support and called on the government to allocate a lot of resources aimed at helping in environmental restoration.
