The Soroti City Woman Member of Parliament Joan Alobo Acom has rallied the residents of Soroti City to engage in fighting corruption.
While addressing various women groups in Moruapesur and Kichinjaji wards over the weekend Ms. Alobo asked voters to report corrupt officials to IGG, State House Anti – Corruption unit, police among others.
She hailed whistle blowers from Soroti city west who reported the alleged mismanagement of over Uganda shillings 100 million by Soroti city west acting town clerk and treasurer who have since been interdicted.
“The Town clerk Soroti city west and treasurer have been interdicted and have been told to pay back the money. This money would have helped several people with lots of challenges,” she explained.
She also promised to fight corruption within the city with the help of the local people.
Repeatedly, MP Alobo donated a total of Uganda shillings 250,000 to each saving group to boost their savings.
She urged the members in different SACCO groups to embrace the current PDM so that they develop themselves and use the seed capital well for the growth of their groups.
