The clan and the family of the Forum for Democratic Change – FDC Party flag bearer Emmanuel Eratu on Thursday morning held a special clan meeting aimed at blessing their son’s political fortunes.
Serere County seat fell vacant after the demise of Hon Patrick Okabe who perished in a road accident together with his wife Christine Okabe on December 19, 2022.
Electoral Commission has set February 23, 2023 as polling date.
Edward Eledu the clan chairperson for Ikarubwok Iutulai while speaking at Eratu’s village home in Atiira Sub-county said, Eratu has several plans not only for the people of Serere constituency, but Serere District and the whole country.
Eledu said that, Eratu’s ambitions once elected is to change the people of Serere and the clan believes that Eratu is the only force that Serere can trust.
The Ikarubwok Iutulai has four in Serere County including; Alengo Zone, Ojara Zone, Jelel Zone and Opiin Zone.
On his part, Eratu welcomed the decision of the clan and said that he has bigger plans for Serere.
He noted his major focus is poverty alleviation, improvement on both health and Education sector.
He also promised to pressure government to fulfill it’s pledges to the people of Serere including the long awaited tarmacking of Kumi to Kagwara road and Soroti to Serere road.
He also pledged to lobby for support for teachers welfare and school feeding program.
Patrick Amuriat the FDC Party President said that people of Serere shouldn’t accept the lies of NRM leaders noting that there is nothing the NRM can deliver having been in power for 37 years.
He says the people of Serere need to vote for a candidate who can put pressure to the government.
