Katakwi General Hospital has received assortments of modern electrical beds equipment worth Uganda Shillings 285,062,000 Million improve the patients bed ratio in the facility.
Private Secretary in charge of Political Mobilization in the Office of the President, Dan Mulalu said the beds were purchased to aid better health services to Katakwi people who have suffered during insurgency.
The frustrating health sector in the district forced Mulalu to write to his American based friends to support the district.
Among the donations that were delivered during the weekend to Katakwi General Hospital include 54 modern electricity beds, 57 modern coated mattresses and 97 bed rids.
Mulalu is confident that the beds will help eliminate patients from sharing beds.
Dr Odeng Simon Peter, the medical superintendent of Katakwi General Hospital who received the equipment says this is a unique donation that operates with power and has provision where patients can press to call a nurse for any emergency unlike other ordinary beds the hospital has been using.
Katakwi Hospital receives daily 600 patients at outpatients department. The facility has since been overwhelmed with a challenge of bed capacity. Currently the bed capacity in Katakwi Hospital stands at 87%.
Dr. Odeng added that some beds will also be given to Health Centre II’s and III’s within the district.
Some of the patients who witnessed the delivery of the donation such as Florence Itwala, a resident of Aleles village Akoboi sub county, Ben Kiwanuka Angiro LC1 kaimoru in Getom sub county, and Joseph Olaboro a resident of Oale in Katakwi sub county described Mulalu as true leader who is focused in-service delivery to develop Katakwi.
