Police in Serere district are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found in Lake Kyoga on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Dan Orot, who has been residing near Adiding landing site.
Moses Mwanga Kitio, the East Kyoga Regional Police Commander says they picked up the body and delivered it at Serere HC 1V for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
According to Mwanga, Orot’s death brings to three, the number of people killed since Christmas Day in Teso sub-region.
On Christmas Day, the body of a 24- year-old Sam Okwi, a fisherman in Obulai Village, Kapujan Sub County in Katakwi district was found under a mango tree in the same village.
Information from Kapujan indicates that Okwi had gone to Orimai Trading Centre in the evening after returning from the lake but he never got back home.
His body was discovered with burns later on Christmas day.
On December 26, 2022, Robert Angulor alias Obasang, 40, was killed by unknown assailants on his way back home in Oluwa Village, Kumi district.
A case of murder was reported to Mukongoro Police Station. Mwanga says that the Police are conducting investigations into the three murders and urged residents to take care of their security.
