Emorimor Papa Iteso His Highness Paul Sande Emolot has lauded the former Serere County Legislator Patrick Okabe (late) for introducing the village development model in his constituency to support household incomes.
Emorimor made remarks while paying his last respect to Okabe who served as the ICU advisor on Friday afternoon at Soroti ICU Offices.
H.H Emolot eulogized Hon Okabe as a unifying figure who brought unity to the Teso Parliamentary Group and trust among the members.
He added that Okabe never believed in intrigue and was a distinguished leader who served without discrimination.
He added that, Okabe greatly contributed to the promotion & observance of Christian values of love, peace, faithfulness, ethics, integrity, generosity, hope, & respect as a means of transforming lives of Ugandans.
Stella Isodo Apolot the Ngora District Woman MP and Fredrick Angura for Tororo South eulogized Hon Okabe as a diligent leader who served with devotion and integrity, and strongly advocated for women’s economic empowerment and human rights.
“He served children, widows, elderly, women and men in all their colors regardless of their party affiliations or creed. Okabe believed in politics of sanity and was a peacemaker, his impeccable character as a man of God will live to inspire those who knew him.” Both legislators said.
Hon Okabe served as a Member of Parliament for Serere County in the 10th and 11th Parliament. In the 11th Parliament, he served as a member of PAC (Central) and member of the Committee on Public Service and Local Government.
He also served as the Chairperson of the Teso Parliamentary Group in the 10th Parliament. During his tenure, he is remembered for leading a crusade to foster unity and harmony among Teso MPs.
Hon Okabe died together with his wife, Mrs Christine Okabe, in a motor accident along Mbale-Tirinyi Road on Monday 19th December 2022.
