The Leadership of Iteso Cultural Union – ICU has announced that the bodies of fallen Serere County MP Patrick Okabe and his Wife Christine Okabe will be taken to the ICU Office to enable Emorimor His Highness Papa Paul Sande Emolot, ICU Cabinet and Council to pay their last respects.
According to the ICU Deputy Prime Minister in-charge of Teso North Stephen Omoding, the bodies of the two deceased family members will be brought to ICU offices through guidance from the family and the Parliament of Uganda before heading to their ancestral home in Serere.
Omoding says the bodies will be in ICU tentatively Friday this week before they are buried on Saturday according to the burial program issued by Parliament.
Both Okabe and wife perished on Monday Morning after they got involved in a motor accident. Their family driver is still battling for his health but steadily recovering.
Omoding says that Okabe was a pillar to the Chiefdom and he was the first chairperson of the Teso Parliamentary group to understand the importance of ICU.
He added that Okabe was a founding father for the Teso Convention, an intellectual gathering that brings in all Teso leaders and Elite to one place to craft the Teso annual Agenda.
Meanwhile Joseph Ojaatum the TESDA patron has called on the youth and other Teso leaders to emulate the deeds of Okabe.
