Bishop Emeritus for Soroti Catholic Diocese Erasmus Desiderius Wandera was at 2:02PM on Tuesday 13th December 2022 laid to a place hundreds believe as his final home.
This burial site is located inside Immaculate Conception Cathedral church Soroti at the right-hand side of the alter.
Wandera who served as the first Bishop of Soroti Catholic Diocese from 1981 to 2007 retired due to advanced age and was replaced by His Grace Emmanuel Obbo who served for less that 10 years before he got appointed as Archbishop of Tororo Archdiocese.
Currently the Diocese is under the stewardship of Bishop Joseph Eciru Oliach one of the Priests Wandera ordained.
“Late Bishop has died a happy man after seeing two of his sons become Bishops,” The Bishop Elect Kotido Diocese Dominic Eibu says.
Speaker after speaker hailed the late Bishop for his outstanding contribution to the development of Teso Sub Region having served as Bishop during the hard times of rebellion.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who was represented by Jessica Alupo gave support of Uganda Shillings twenty million as his contribution while Alupo also pulled her five million shillings.
The VP while representing the President said that President has requested the People of Teso to support government programs including Parish Development Model, Emyooga among others
