There was a sombre mood and a dark cloud of grief hovering over Immaculate Conception Cathedral church in Soroti city as the body of Bishop Emeritus of Soroti Catholic Diocese Erasmus Desiderius Wandera arrived on Monday afternoon.
At exactly 12:15PM on Monday afternoon, an ambulance carrying Wandera’s body arrived to the welcome of a number of Priests, Sisters, friends, relatives and christians he led for 27 years.
For many of the people including the Priests and Sisters could not help but cry as the casket containing deceased body was being lowered from the ambulance.
In his speech Bishop Joseph Eciru Oliach of Soroti Catholic Diocese said that the Diocese is existing because of Bishop Emeritus.
He revealed that Soroti Catholic Diocese now has 51 Parishes compared to the 15 he started with.
He added that founding a Diocese or leading is not a cup of tea.
Biahop Wandera served for 27 years against all odds.

He will be laid to rest on Tuesday with Holy Mass starting at 11:00AM and will be presided by His Grace Emmanuel Obbo AJ the Archbishop of Tororo Archdiocese who was also his successor before he was appointed to head the Archdiocese.
This designated burial location is inside the Cathedral, on the right-hand side.
