Aluru Sub County leaders in Moyo district are demanding an audit and transfer of the sub-county Chief Francis Drichi Ipepi who is accused of alleged mismanagement of funds.
The leaders accuse Drichi of reportedly misusing 31 Million Shillings meant for the operations of the sub-county.
They further accuse him of spending the sub-county local revenue at the source without notifying the executive committee which they say is contrary to public service requirements.
In a petition to Fredrick Ssemogerere, the Moyo District Chief Administrative Officer, a copy of which media has seen, Francis Oduti Aulogo, the Aluru LC III Chairperson wants the sub-county chief to be audited for the period 1st July to 30th October 2022.
“From this startup funds the sub-county chief has withdrawn cash money from the sub-county account in the name of giving to our landlord of sub-county headquarters as an appreciation worth Five million Shillings, this money has not reached him up to date”, reads part of the petition.
According to Oduti, the executive committee realized that the startup funds have been depleted without council approval.
But Ipepi, declined to comment on the matter, noting that he has not received any notification from the appointing authority.
Ssemogerere, confirmed receiving the petition but declined to give more details about the matter.
Aluru sub-county was created out of Moyo sub-county during the 2021/2022 financial year. It became operational on 1 July 2022 in the current 2022/2023 financial year.
