The construction of a 10.3 kilometer road that stretches from Kobulubulu to Okile landing site in Kaberamaido district has started with funding from the Government of Uganda through the Teso Affairs Ministry.
The Uganda Shillings 300 Million funded roadworks by the Teso Affairs Ministry will see the road be given the facelift of the first class standard murram road.
The works are being undertaken by the district works department.
Local authorities including the area MP Alfred Edakasi, LCV Victor Ekesu and others have asked the contractor, to ensure they complete the work within the contract period noting that the road will help as a linkage between the business communities.
The leaders also believe that the standard of the road will improve the delivery of goods including fish to the consumers while calling on the engineers to use good materials so as to attain quality work and value for money.
Kenneth Ongalo Obote the Minister for Teso Affairs explains that the project is aimed at boosting business and improving access to the central market that has been hampered due to poor road network.
He also challenged the engineers to deliver quality work.
“We expect timely implementation of this project and it must be quality work,” Ongalo said.
The Minister further warned residents against theft of construction materials and fuel, saying it would lead to delays in the completion of the project and shoddy work.
