The African Centre for Media Excellence – ACME has today announced its partners who are supporting the 2022 Uganda National Journalism Awards.
The 2022 awards gala will be hosted on December 14, 2022, according to ACME through it’s official twitter handle.
ACME in a statement said that, “We appreciate the support of our sponsors who have made this possible. On 14 December will celebrate quality journalism with the awards gala.”
The statement added that, “since its inception, the Uganda National Journalism Awards have been funded by development partners. Today, we are excited to announce that we have been joined by corporate and civil society partners.”
The new partners include; telecom giants MTN Uganda, Stanbic Bank Uganda, Total Energies Uganda, Cipesa Uganda, Nile Breweries Uganda Limited, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and Centenary Bank.
The MTN Senior Manager Corporate Rhona Arinaitwe commended ACME for recognizing excellent work by journalists.
“When you recognise people who are excelling, you encourage them to do better and encourage others,” Arinaitwe said
“We believe quality journalism is very important, and we must conserve it. We don’t support these awards so that journalists can write good things about us. We would like to see journalists report objectively, fairly and in a balanced way,” said Kenneth Agutamba of Stanbic Bank Uganda.
The Uganda National Journalism Awards 2022 will be given to the best reporting in 20 categories namely; Agriculture reporting, Land and property rights reporting, Arts reporting, Local reporting, Business, economy and finance, National news (broadcast), Education reporting, National news (print), Energy and extractives industries News illustration, Environment reporting, Photo and video journalism, Features and Political reporting.
Other categories are; Health reporting, Public accountability reporting, Investigative reporting, Public works and infrastructure, Justice, law and order, Sports reporting
