A mob has killed three suspected thieves in Kagadi district.
The deceased have been identified as Gerald Nuwalimpa 27, Elisa Tubiryomuhangi 25, and Swaibu Amon 30, all residents of Kibengo cell in Buligira ward of Mpeefu town council.
It is reported that the three on Saturday at around 11:30 pm raided Buligira cell in Mpeefu town council and stole a pig from one of the residents.
After noticing that thugs had raided the area, the residents sounded an alarm that attracted other residents who started pursuing the thieves.
They were arrested and beaten to death by the angry mob. The mob later set their bodies ablaze.
Robert Nkwasibwe, the Mpeefu town council LCIII Chairperson says though he notified the police, it was too late for the police to save the lives of the suspects.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson has confirmed the incident and expressed concern at the rate members of the public take laws into their own hands.
According to Hakiza, police picked up the bodies and took them to Kagadi Hospital pending postmortem
