The Police at East Kyoga Region have impounded 163 motorcycles for violating several traffic guidelines as operations enters day two.
The operation was prompted by the alarming road accidents among motorists ahead of the festive season. Boda bodas have been deemed the biggest cause of accidents in the country.
SP Oscar Gregg Ageca, the East Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson said that the operation seeks to tame the rampant Boda Boda accidents within Teso.
The motorcycles were impounded in an operation conducted on Monday targeting riders without helmets, those carrying more than one passenger, riding motorcycles under dangerous mechanical conditions, and those with expired permits and licenses among others.
Some impounded motorcycles have been parked at Soroti City Central Police Station while others are spread throughout the region for screening.
