Three suspected cattle thieves were on Sunday morning lynched in Buwanga village, in Baitambogwe sub county in Mayuge district.
The deceased include; Ibrahim Ouma, Grace Tenywa and Doreen Kibili.
The deceased have been taken to Mayuge health center IV mortuary awaiting postmortem.
It is reported that the trio were seen ferrying four cows in the wee-hours of Sunday morning.
The residents were reportedly angered by the behavior of the suspects who didnot have proper documentation. The residents later stoned the thieves to death.
Adonia Musisi, a resident in the same village says that the residents had resolved to handover the suspects to Baitambogwe Police post for further prosecution, however, when they attempted to flee, they were beaten to death.
Musisi adds that several residents have lost their livestock and crops to suspected thieves, which has since steered the vice of mob justice within their area.
The Busoga East police spokesperson, Diana Nandawula, has challenged members of the general public to desist from theft related tendencies, which might earn them heavy jail sentences or risk their personal safety.
Nandawula further implored communities to embrace legal prosecution mechanisms in their efforts to fight crime.
She said a team of police detectives has been dispatched to hunt down the people behind the mob justice incident.
