As Serere Leaders, Hon. Adoa and I regret the very inhumane incident which happened in my Constituency.
First we wish the injured quick recovery, secondly we stand with our people of Kyere and are doing everything in our capacity to ensure that the injured and the injured people of Kyere get justice.
First I want to state that: The local leaders and area member of Parliament were not informed of the plans by Teso Cooperative union to come to Kyere.
Secondly, even though the people reacted and rioted live bullets should have never been fired at them. Teargas and other methods of controlling riots should have been employed.
I must emphasize that no one has monopoly for violence and no one should ever come and inflict pain on the people of Serere County.
I appeal to my people of Kyere to remain calm as we pursue justice.
Hon. Adoa and I will have a meeting with Kyere community on Friday 21st October to share with our people and chart the way forward.
I thank all the people who have expressed concern.
HON. OKABE PATRICK,
MP SERERE COUNTY
