SOROTI – The board Member of SORUDA also former Mayor for Soroti Municipality, Alfred Martine Aruo has called on local leaders in Teso to take the role of sensitizing men on poverty alleviation
According to Aruo, men need to be supported with ideas that will enable them embrace activities like savings, poultry keeping, rearing goats among others that currently dominated by women
He attributes the high rate of poverty in Teso to failure by leaders to inspire people to engage in productive activities to improve the welfare of the society.
Meanwhile, residents in Katakwi District have reacted to the idea that government, leaders and stakeholder take a role to sensitize locals on avenues of self-financial independence, to ensure income at household levels is achieved to help people recover from both natural hazards and economic crises.
Brian Okwii, another resident in Katakwi says leaders of Teso should truly understand the issues and plight affecting the local people economically.
Anne Margret Arionget, a resident in Katakwi Town Council, says such plans will save the poor persons while urging the government to find jobs for at least one million youths across the country.
