SERERE – The Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party mobilizer for Ojetenyang Parish, Serere County in Serere District has revealed that the achievements of the Serere County Legislator Patrick Okabe have persuaded him to join the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Alfred Omonuk a resident of Onyara Village, Ojetenyang Parish in Kateta Sub County and also the FDC supporter made the revelation during the launch of Ojetenyang Parish Saccos in Ayep Village on Saturday.
Omonuk who declared his undying love for MP Okabe revealed that in the coming polls he will cast his vote in favour of Okabe and select NRM candidates.
He noted that since 2016 he has been a strong de-campaigner of Okabe and NRM but from today onwards he will rally behind Okabe because of his developmental programs.
Omonuk cited among other Okabe Foundation Village savings groups, ambulance services and others
But MP Patrick Okabe while speaking during the launch of the Saccos commended Omonuk for joining the winning team.
MP Okabe also urged sacco members to also focus in Animal rearing, Piggery, Poultry and Commericial Farming as other means of boosting their household incomes.
He further sounded a tough warning against leaders of savings groups not to mismanagement peoples savings.
He also revealed that his foundation next year will be concentrating in Production noting that this year is for savings.
He also challenged families in Teso to desist from land fragmentation.
Each savings group was been with one million shillings that will help in developing the livelihoods of the people.
The Former Serere MP Charles Koluo also noted that for the people of Teso to get out poverty they must embrace joining savings groups.
He further called for mindset change amongst the people of Teso.
From May to September 2022 Ojetenyang Parish savings groups have saved 16,672,000.
LCIII Kateta Amos Ochola commended MP Okabe for the initiative in supporting and improving the livelihoods of the people of Ojetenyang Parish.
He challenged the voters of Serere Constituency to re-elect MP Okabe saying its the only way of rewarding Okabe who has shown his love for the people of Serere.
He further decried limited allocation of resources to the sub county noting that only UGX27M has been released for DDEG.
Kateta sub county had intitally budgeted DDEG168 million but government has only sent UGX27M, according to Ochola.
